ABSTRACT
poor and low length of writing among students of higher institution in Nigeria today is a growing concern within the educational circles. The impact of modern technology, especially the Internet, has been roundly blamed for this problem. Whereas this might not be far from the truth, it is being posited that a twin to this internet factor is Pidgin usage – which is beginning to be endemic. 200 undergraduate writings were selected for this study. Moreover, student’s comments on social network were also examined. It was discovered the language of Nigerian students is not only getting poor by the day but that the volume of their compositions is becoming low in terms of length.
